Juventus can’t afford for Vlahovic to be injured
I kind of understand why there are international breaks in football, but it doesn’t mean I like them.
First of all, there are already too many club matches during the season and then the addition of international matches don’t help players when it comes to keeping them from getting injured.
Juventus’ striker Dusan Vlahovic hasn’t been able to get any rest while playing for the Bianconeri and now it looks like his body might be breaking down after suffering an injury towards the end of Serbia’s Nations League match against Denmark. It appears to be a muscle injury after he was seen holding the back of his thigh.
Vlahovic is now the second Juve player to suffer an injury during the current intentional break after the club lost center-back Juan Cabal to a torn ACL last week.
The Old Lady have a big match against AC Milan this weekend and right now there’s like a good chance that Vlahovic won’t be ready to go. Juventus will have to figure out who will start in his place with Arkadiusz Milik also out injured.
The Bianconeri could have Kenan Yildiz play as a false nine. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Vlahovic says it’s easier to play for Serbian team
Getting back to Vlahovic, he told the media recently that it’s easier to play with the Serbian national team because he has another striker along side him in Aleksandar Mitrovic.
“It is a bit easier for me when there is another striker because Mitrovic holds up the ball and engages in aerial duels, so I can make more of my own characteristics and qualities,” Vlahovic told RSI, via beIN.
“The coach also does not require many defensive duties from me, so that makes it easier too.
“With my physicality, I can’t really run that much and am not as fresh in my finishing when I’ve been working so hard.”
What Vlahovic says makes sense, but as a professional that’s expected to produce at a high level game in and game out, he needs to figure out how to be effective while playing for Juventus.
Update: Juventus have released a statement and indicated that Vlahovic didn’t suffer an injury but will be monitored.
Following the left thigh muscle discomfort felt yesterday with his national team, Dusan Vlahovic underwent diagnostic tests today at J|Medical. The tests ruled out injuries and his condition will be monitored daily.
