2.Gianluigi Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon, widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history, enjoyed an extraordinary career with Juventus tht spanned a total of two decades. He joined the club in 2001 from Parma for a then-record fee for a goalkeeper.

Buffon made over 680 appearances for Juventus, while setting several records, including the most clean sheets in Serie A history. He played a pivotal role in the club’s dominance, winning an unprecedented 10 Serie A titles, 5 Coppa Italia trophies, and 7 Supercoppa Italiana titles. Despite Juventus’ relegation to Serie B in 2006 following the Calciopoli scandal, Buffon showed loyality towards The Old Lady and stayed with the team and was a big part in leading them back to the top flight.

Buffon’s acrobatic saves, commanding presence, and leadership were instrumental in Juventus reaching three UEFA Champions League finals during his tenure, even though he was never able to capture the biggest trophy in Europe.

After his time at Juve, Buffon went on to play for Paris Saints-Germain for one season (2018-2019) and then came back to Juve to serve a back-up from 2019-2021. he ended up finishing his career at Parma and retired in 2023.
