Koopmeiners really wanted Juventus

Juventus’ midfielder Teun Koopmeiners started his youth career at AZ Alkmaar and quickly rose through the ranks due to his exceptional playmaking ability and strong work ethic. He’s well known for his precise passing, tactical awareness, and proficiency in set-pieces, including penalties and free kicks.

Koopmeiners made his senior debut for AZ Alkmaar in 2017 and went on to captain the team, showcasing his maturity and leadership even at a young age. His performances in the Dutch Eredivisie attracted attention from major European clubs, and in 2021, which is how he he made his move to Atalanta.

Heading into this past summer’s transfer window, Juventus knew that they needed to add a midfielder and of course they targeted Koopmeiners, who fit what they were looking for on the market.

So, Juve ended up opening up their check book and paid €54.70 million for Koopmeiners. Despite interest from clubs in England, he recently indicated that he wanted to play for The Old Lady after talking to Matthijs de Ligt.

“There were English clubs that were interested in me… but as soon as I heard about Juventus I didn’t even have a doubt”. “What Matthijs de Ligt had told me about Juventus was true, this club is like a dream”, told Tuttosport, via Fabrizio Romano.

Koopmeiners has been a breathe of fresh for Juventus this season and has been a part of the reason why the Bianconeri are currently only two points out of first place in Serie A despite the fact that they’re in sixth place.
